Peter Frohmader (active since 1970) is a German Electronic multi instrumentalist musician, painter and visiual artist, also known under his pseudonym Nekropolis.
Before he started to recording solo, he was also a member of Alpha Centauri, Electronic Delusion, Kanaan and
Since 1978 he recorded under the name Nekropolis, in the "Nekropolis Studios" (Munich), groundbreaking albums like "Musik Aus Dem Schattenreich", "Nekropolis", "Nekropolis 2", "Cultes Des Goules", "Orakel/Tiefe", "Ritual" and much more.
In 1982 he started the collaboration with the Swiss oscar winner and painter H.R. Giger, which was a big fan of Nekropolis and composed soundtracks for some of Giger's films.
In the 80's and in the 90's, many TV Channels all around the world, like Germany, U.S.A., Canada, France, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Japan and many more, aired reports and portraits about Peter Frohmader and the music of Nekropolis and many articles, portraits, interviews & reviews has been writen by the international Press.
In 2019 Peter Frohmader joined Aumega Project and started to publishing his solo music and also the music of Nekropolis, there.
Peter Frohmader's music ranges from Krautrock experiments, nightmarish dark electronic to complex modern electronica, his inspiration goes from Klaus Schulze, Ash Ra Tempel, Tangerine Dream, Amon Düül II, Can, Heldon to Magma.
He also worked together with many other musicians for concerts, sessions or studio productions, like
Joel Vandroogenbroeck (Brainticket), Chris Karrer (Amon Düül
II), Rudi Haunreiter (Emtidi, Niagara, etc), musicians of "Embryo", "Sparifankal", Stephan
Manu, Richard Pinhas and many more.
He doing music for films, videos, TV and Theatre and produced some own experimental films & videos.
Peter Frohmader is considered by many to be the creator of the German Angst Music.
