Electronic Cosmic Kraut (Canada)

With over a decade of professional experience in audio for film, broadcast and music, Gabe Knox currently works in Toronto as a freelance re-recording mixer, sound editor & composer. In 2010 he was recognized by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television with a Genie nomination for Achievement in Sound Editing.

 

After graduating from Ryerson University with a BA in Radio and Television Arts with a specialty in Audio, he interned at Deluxe Post-Production before starting work as a sound editor and re-recording mixer at The Dark Studio. While there, his list of credits for both the studio and as a freelancer grew to include series commissioned by CBC, HGTV, History, TVO, NFB and films shown in festivals around the world, including TIFF, Hot Docs, Locarno and Berlin.

 

In 2015, he was recruited by VICE Studio Canada to be their lead Audio Technician, responsible for all aspects of audio post-production for the studio, mixing hundreds of hours of content of all types for the company and its third-party clients. As the audio lead Knox supervised the post-production audio process for award-winning long-form content for film, television and the web, as well as branded content and advertising. He aslo joined Aumega Project in 2015.

 

In June of 2020, Knox left VICE to return to freelancing. He currently keeps a studio at Victory Social Club in downtown Toronto to provide services for broadcast mixing, sound editorial, sound design, film pre-dubbing, & music composition.
