Psychedelic, Krautrock, Experimental, Electronica (Germany)

Thomas Hopf is primarily a splendid percussionist, for various bands and artists, since over 40 years.

He is also a sound engineer who works for the German cinema, but furthermore he is a magnificent multiinstrumentalist & an accomplished & experienced sound wizard par excellence, with a superb sense of phantastic tunes & intoxicating moods, who conjures terrific psychedelic soundscapes, in which you can perfectly dive in and experience outright new states of consciousness.

He creates colorful musically stories, with his fabulous, imagination inspiring, cinematic music, which have the perfect ballance between classical 60's and 70's Psychedelic Krautrock and Neo-Krautrock.

Thomas Hopf was among others, the drummer of Yellow Sunshine Explosion (one of the most important bands of Germany's "Eighties Psychedelic and Garage Revival") and Damo Suzuki's & Michael Karoli's

(both from the most important band ever, the Krautrock Legend Can) solo - tour & studio activities.

A Yellow Sunshine Explosion show together with the Damo Suzuki band, in the Balver Höhle, lead to the fact that Damo Suzuki joined YSE. Despite of overwhelming critic and numberous gigs sadly not much happend, so Yellow Sunshine Explosion split in 1992 & Thomas Hopf moved from Dortmund to Cologne.

Michael Karoli and Damo Suzuki, who both were deeply impressed of his superb drum skills, after a few collaborations and listening to Yellow Sunshine Explosion's marvelous "Legendary Tape", wanted to work together with Thomas, so he a.o. still is playing music with Damo Suzuki and did an US-tour with him and Michael Karoli, in 1998, which got enormously good feedback and resulted in the great TV documentary "Over the Air", by Peter Braatz which was broadcasted in 1999 for the first time.

Afterwards he played drums at Michael Karoli's Can - solo project until his death in November 2001.

He also played drums for several studio recordings and live concerts, for bands and members of bands like Embryo, Amon Düül II, Faust, Can's Jaki Liebezeit and many many more.

Up to today, Thomas Hopf is playing drums and percussions for several artists and in various bands like Frankensteins Ballet, in 2019 Thomas Hopf joined Aumega Project and re-released Yellow Sunshine Explosion's superb debut album & "The Legendary Tape". He also released as well some never before released YSE recordings, which shows the superior & mind blowing psychedelic sound Yellow Sunshine Explosion created in the 80's and early 90's & his previously unreleased, terrific solo work.
Now you can also convince yourself of his skills as a solo artist! You can hear his previously unreleased musicaly creations, from the early 80's till today and you will certainly not be disappointed!!!

Aumega Project is very happy and feels honored, to be allowed to present this gem to the world!!!!!!!
